Just when we thought our laptop packing up was the biggest obstacle we could face while blogging our way around South Africa, our car starts making a funny noise. Knysna Volkswagen says its the gearbox that needs to be stripped down and repaired.
If tomorrow wasn’t a public holiday, they could have started working on it today and I could have the car back by Friday. Since it is a public holiday tomorrow, the parts would only arrive on Friday…and we’re booked into Plettenberg Bay from Thursday. As it stands, we will have to cross fingers and hope the car makes it to Jeffrey’s Bay (this is were the next VW service centre is) and plan to stay there for about a week so that the car can be fixed. Which means a lot of walking unless we can borrow a car to get around in.
In the meantime, our explorations will have to be as car free as possible to minimize damage, so send us some ideas of some car free ways to get around. Tuk tuks maybe? Or taxis?
Hope you get car gearbox sorted soon and still manage to enjoy on foot. Lots of love
